Lost... and Alone... (Arctic and iivie only)

Alei's motherly instinct told her to pick the pup up and carry her to the cave. She must be so tired and scared, she noticed that she couldn't keep up. But something held her back from it. This pup was strong, and therefor she would allow her to show it, by walking herself. The cave wasn't far from here anyways. Arctic had slowed down, he must have noticed too. She took up the rear, allowing the pup to walk a little ahead of her, just in case something was following them.

When the cave came into view, she felt relief take over, for the first time in the last few minutes she felt safe again. She waited for Arctic to hop up the stones to the entrance of the den, then kept close to the pup as she did the same. She would be there to help the pup just in case she missed a step and started to fall off one of the stones. Luckily, the trip was safe, and she was the last to enter the den. It felt amazing to be here again, instead of out in the open where the bear could have attacked at any time. A sigh passed her lips, as she fell to the stone floor as if in exhaustion.

She kept her eyes on the pup as Arctic left, then returned with a rabbit. With all the excitement, she had hardly even noticed the strange markings of the pup. She looked like a wolf, well, more like a fox, but she had jaguar-like spots along her back and hindquarters. Her tail was quite unusual too, she must have been a hybrid, like herself. She smiled, then turned to Arctic as he spoke. Turning back to the pup, she gave her ear a small lick of comfort, "We'll be back." She reassured her, before getting to her paws, and following Arctic into his room.

The female certainly had a way with the young one. This actually warmed the male’s heart to know that he was falling in love with such a loving female. Forever his eyes watched her, even as she approached him in his den. The Alpha wasted no time talking with her about the pup. ”I just wanted to tell you with words that the pups mother was killed. We could continue to search for any other family that she has or had but I have a gut feeling that she’s an orphan now.” Softly he nudged the female’s cheek. He was being sensitive to her emotions if she felt the need to shed a tear. ”I’ve already decided to keep the pup and to raise her as my own but I wanted to hear what your heart longs for as well. What you feel is important to me. So tell me what ‘you’ wish to do.” He waited for her to answer but he still continued to show her affection.

She wanted to smile as she stepped in to see Arctic in his room, but with all the sadness, the vision didn't seem to happy at the moment. Before she had the chance to say anything, he pressed his nose against her cheek and began telling her what he had seen. Even though she knew what had happened by looking through his eyes, it still hurt to hear the words being spoken. Those were the words she had heard so long ago when she was just a pup... She had overheard her father speaking to another, before he told her and her brothers. She could feel her throat clench as she pushed the memory away and continued to listen to Arctic's words, focusing on his gentle touch and soothing scent.

A bit of happiness came with his next words. He wanted to keep this orphaned pup and raise her as his own. She couldn't hold back the little smile that slowly crept across her maw. She backed away to look into his eyes, "I'd love to help raise her." Her voice was soft, almost a whisper and she told him this, wondering if when he meant he would raise her he only meant himself. She knew how much he loved pups, and his affection and love toward them only made her fall for him harder. The pup would need a mother, as well as a father, she knew that for a fact. Growing up with her mother would have been much easier than the way she had been raised...

The pup was looking at the den in fear, She hated caves, they had always frightened her. But after what she had just experienced she thought it was indeed the safest place. As she stepped inside her fears left at the door. It was amazing! She had never really been inside a cave before and it was certainly not scary, not this one at least. She was looking around when she heard the thud of a rabbit being placed at her feet. She hadn't realized how hungry she was, Not eating breakfast this morning like her brothers. Just then She remembered! 'oh no!' She thought. after eating a bite of food she ran to the door of the room where the wolves had gone. She peered in to ask if there was any chance of finding them when she heard the words... "This pup is an orphan." She froze in her steps, listening, waiting."I am going to raise her" She walked in with a small tear running down the tip of her nose. "is m-m-my m-mother really g-gone?" She asked in the studders of whimpers."C-can i-i stay h-here? I have never h-had a f-father."

"Of course..." These were the only words that left his lips. His body was pointed in the direction of the door when he noticed the pup walking in, tears running down her face. The realization struck the male. She had heard everything that he just said to Alei and now Arc felt just awful!

Quickly he went to the pup and got down on his belly. To be her height would surely calm the little one, causing her to feel less intimidated by him. His soft white fur rubbed into her cheek as his muzzle nuzzled her, a small tear forming and then falling from the corner of his eye, the very side that Alei could see. This perhaps was no way for a mighty leader to act but he had a soft spot for pups. "Have no fear little one. If you wish me to be your father then so be it. But I have one request." Arc looked toward Alei and then smiled softly. "Allow Alei to raise you as her own pup."

Arctic knew that this would please his female and it pleased him as well. On this day they became a family. Just this morning he was about to ask Alei to be his mate but now something else wonderful happened. He was a father and Alei a mother. He'd simply ask Alei later.

A soft smile crossed the she-wolf's face as Arctic replied with an answer to her question that more than pleased her. It faded quickly when she too, heard the pup's voice at the edge of the opening of Arctic's room. She stood and followed Arctic immediatly, lying beside him, and looking into the pup's eyes. They were filled with hurt and sorrow. She frowned, feeling her own lost mother's grief rush through her entire body causing her throat to close up as she held back tears. Turning back to Arctic as he spoke, trying to calm the pup, she noticed a tear falling down his own cheek.

Leaning forward, she pressed her muzzle into Arctic's warm neck fur, then did the same with the little pup just as Arctic turned toward her and requested for the pup to allow her to be her mother. Backing away from the pup, she gazed into Arctic's eyes. Her own eyes clouded with sadness, but happiness sparkled somewhere far behind it. She was going to be a mother, and he a father. They were going to be a family...
