~`~Metallic Dream~`~
The mare simply lowered her head and appeared rather down hearted. She just couldn't understand how a horse could think the way that he did. Dream wondered if he'd ever change his mind and perhaps take a mate for his very own. Would it take something spectacular in his life to cause him to think differently or for his heart to desire to belong to someone and for them to belong to him? Dream sighed. She certainly felt at this time it wouldn't be her, that was for a certainty. "I wasn't just saying that a herd could provide companionship. I was referring more to the love between a male and a female." Softly her nose snorted.
A few feet away the grass looked so inviting that she decided to taste of it and then to lay down. Her spirit grew defiant and aggravated with Moon and this feeling quickly built up within her until it spilled forth from between her lips. Dream then lifted her head and looked up at him. "I'm not joining a herd right now and besides... What do you care if Deacon catches up with me or another stallion for that matters?" Indeed the femme was spicy in her speech and the expression that she wore on her face was one of stubbornness and rebellion.
Dream left her head fall onto the soft grass and her odd colors eyes closed. Her mind was made up. She wouldn't stop him if he wanted to go. She also wouldn't allow him to tell her what to do, if it came to that. The femme was through enough in her life that she came to have a strong will and being free like she is now, experiencing the things that she has thus far, only proved to instill in her that she didn't have to do as others wished her to do.

Blue Moon shook his handsome head, his mane fluttering against his neck with the movement. Metallic didn't get it but, then again no one did when he thought about it. Not even his own mother had properly understood his constant need for motion, the peace he found in being alone or the deep content he felt when he stood alone on an open plain with the wind in his mane. He smiled to himself, looking away from Dream so she wouldn't think he was laughing at her. No one really understood him but for all her protests that herds were better, Metallic was the first mare to actually try and understand him and that was something special to him.
Sure he'd caught eyes before but none of them had really cared. When he ran they didn't follow and he didn't expect Metallic to but that was ok. The other mares would be unhappy and sometimes if he ran into them twice the meeting wasn't pleasant but something told him Metallic wouldn't do that. For that alone, Moon was very grateful. Turning his head back to Metallic, Moon studied her with his bright onyx eyes.
"Metallic, rape isn't something I stand for. If you choose a stallion as a mate that is your choice, not something I can control or even try to. Equines like Deacon are monsters, not horses." His voice was firm and his gaze level, the distaste at the idea of equines like Deacon clear in his body language.
Lowering his head, Blue Moon munched quietly on some of the spongy grass growing along the stream, swishing his tail and glancing around at the foggy marsh all around them. He knew she didn't understand him. She was needy, needed a stallion beside her or a herd to run with. She wanted a herd to give her companionship and it saddened Moon to see such dependence. Couldn't anyone else feel the wind in their mane and think of it as a friend's caress? Weren't the trees and tall grasses speaking their own secret language, whispering to you things only you could hear? Moon liked to think so, it was how he got along in life.
Raising his head, Moon looked around him at the open but closed swamp. He missed the trees and mountains, heck he missed sunlight! He needed out of this place before he forgot what the sun's rays felt like on his back. Snorting softly, Moon looked back over at Metallic. "You tried to understand me once Metallic, that makes you more different then you'll ever know but, I guess I'm just strange and if a herd is what you want then that's fine. It's not a life I'll lead. The trees and the grass and the sun are my herd. I'm sorry if I made you mad but you're not the first, probably not the last. It's just hard for me to be dependent. If I could run and feel the sun I might be able to show you what I find so amazing about it being just me and the world around me but in this swamp it's hard to see the fact that just one equine can wander without ever feeling lonely."

~`~Metallic Dream~`~
Metallic understood much more then Moon thought. She pondered over him and what went through his mind. Dream wondered if he thought that nobody would ever understand him. She wondered if he just didn't want someone to really know him and what's in his heart. Did he think that he could not protect the ones that he cared the most about? Or was it that his spirit was just a restless one? At this point Dream was a bit more confused then perhaps even Moon realized. The mare became frustrated but that didn't mean that she wanted to give up on him. This was yet another point that she thought about. Did he want to give up on her? She realized that they had just met but would he wish to flee from her as he seemed to do for the better part of his life? Dream moaned, mostly in confusion. Did he even realized that she longed to know the deep intimate details of what he was and what made him the male that he was?
His voice trailed off as if it were the wind in her ears. It wasn't that she wasn't listening but she now had something to add. Promptly she got up and strolled over to him. Her slow saunter was one that was unique to her and clearly she was a mare that many studs may long for. She wondered though that if Moon would ever long for her in that manner or if it would just be the bad ones that she only attracted.
It was now time for the mare to respond...
She would start with the last response first.
"I'm not giving up on you Moon but at the same time I do not wish to force you to keep my company. If I did that then I'd be no better then Deacon who tried to force me to do unthinkable things with him. If your heart does not want to be near me then I can't force it to be. I can't make you do that because I know what it's like to be a slave to the whims of another."
"I'm not mad. I'm just flustered and frustrated. All of this is new to me. I've never been free like this before. My entire life was spent in a stall and I've never tasted freedom. I've only been allowed to stare at it from a distance, that is until now. And truthfully I'm not sure what I want and so for now I just want to be free. I don't want to join a herd right now."
"I do understand how nature is your herd. Believe me when I tell you that I understand that... perhaps more then you'll ever know. I just wish though that you had room in your life for another. I'm jealous of the love that you have for the nature around you. I can see that it's a strong emotion."
Now the femme moved in much closer to him. She would now respond to his first statement, the one about Deacon. Her face was nothing but pure bliss. With the words that she just said to Moon she realized just how lovely this life would be for her. It was nothing like what she just came from and each day would be a new beginning for her. She just simply did not wish to share it alone.
"Metallic, rape isn't something I stand for. If you choose a stallion as a mate that is your choice, not something I can control or even try to. Equines like Deacon are monsters, not horses."
"I know that Deacon is a monster but still I'd belong to someone and that's what my heart longs for. I can feel it in my bones but if 'I' get to choose my mate then I'd choose you." Tenderly she smile up at him, he being taller then she. Dream knew that it was probably much to soon to be telling another such things from her heart but she found that she just couldn't contain it any longer. She wasn't getting any younger and such longings seemed to be built into them but there was another sad fact that she wished not to think of... It was the fact that she assumed that Moon didn't want a mate at this time. This was something though that she pushed out of her mind because if she didn't tell him what was in her heart then it would likely never be said. He could leave now and she'd never get the chance to say it ever again.

Turning his elegant head Moon angled his head to meet Metallic's unusual gaze. His onyx optics were bright with affection, a small smile on his lips. In his ribs Moon could feel his heart swelling with a mix of pain and pleasure. He loved Metallic, it was obvious, the emotion he'd tried to run from had caught up with him and now it seemed ready to stay. After Magic, Moon had promised himself to keep a better check on who he gave his heart to, afraid to fail anyone and cost them their life but...well, Metallic had blindsided him with her charm and unusual colors, she'd dropped his guard. Now however, Blue Moon felt weary as well as happy. If she followed him in his rather wild life then that would be fine but...eventually she would tire of it and want to seek the herds. Deep down Moon knew he'd let her but love for her wouldn't change the fact he wouldn't follow her there.
Arching his neck, Moon brushed his black muzzle against her violet one. "But could you accept a mate that might not be there someday?" Moon asked gently, his voice affectionate but concerned.
They were both young and, though he didn't like to admit it, stupid. If he became her mate, eventually the foal would come. Moon knew in his heart he would slow his run, always for Metallic and whatever young they may bear. He would never leave her behind but what of when they grew older? Blue Moon knew that in his heart he would be content to die in the middle of some lonely plain so long as the sun was on his skin but would Metallic be able to settle for those kinds of things? She wanted a herd but would a small family herd be enough to content her?

"But could you accept a mate that might not be there someday?" Metallic's head dipped. In truth she wasn't sure of how to answer his question. If she fell any deeper in love with him then surely if he ever left her she would probably run herself off of a cliff some where. And yes she was sure now at this point... she was indeed in love with this roan, the male that came into her life much like the mist evaporated from the earth.
A soft breath escaped her as his soft nose nuzzled her own. Her voice was but a whisper. "If you loved me then how could you leave me? I'm not sure that you have that in you Moon." She was sure that if he loved someone he couldn't leave them. Surely his love for the wide open fields couldn't be stronger then his love that would aspire to become rather strong between him and Dream. The mare would convince herself of that. She also knew that she held a power over the male gender. Her seduction was great. Surely he'd fall so hopelessly in love with her.
Softly her cheek brushed his. She gasped slightly. Dream had an idea. "If we made a herd of our own that would suit me just fine. You'd be King and I'd be Queen and you could run anytime that your heart desired too. And there would be days that I could run with you. You could show me what you love so much about being free. Is that the kind of life that would suit you Moon? You could have the best of both worlds and I can promise you that I'll never want to join a herd." Tenderly she nibbled his neck before she spoke just one more thing. "I know that we've only known each other for a short time but I do believe that I'm in love with you." Dream continued to nuzzle him most affectionately.

A soft chuckle rose from the blue roan as he angled his head, stroking his soft nose against Metallic's neck. She smelled sweet, like the grasses in the meadows despite their dank surroundings. He inhaled, savoring the scent, closing his eyes for a moment before blinking them open and pressing his muzzle a bit more firmly against Metallic's neck. "That would suit me" he assured her, his ebony tail whisking behind him. The pain in his leg was long forgotten and Deacon even further gone. He missed the sunlight but Blue Moon assured himself he'd feel it soon enough on his back again. The breezes here were damp and slow but he would feel fresher ones again. All of it would come alive again once they left this damp place that seemed so lonely and grey but something told him everything would appear grey without his oddly colored mare walking beside him.
Tugging lightly on Metallic's silvery mane, Moon took a step back and tossed his head, looking around them. "I think it's time we leave this place, together." Moon bumped his muzzle lightly against Metallic's and smiled for her.
He didn't know how far she wanted to go with him, whether she was mistaking love for a filly's crush but Moon knew himself well enough to know he would wait for her even if she did someday change her mind. Blue Moon snorted softly and pawed at the ground, ignoring the twinges of pain that ran through his knee. He was sick of the swamp and it was time to move, regardless of what his body thought in protest. The thought of running with Metallic beside him brought light to Moon's dark optics, a deep sense of content settling in his belly.
Pawing the ground again and arching his neck, Moon wheeled about, taking a blind direction and following his gut. The stag nickered to Metallic to follow and set off at a trot, not trusting his legs to carry him at a gallop quite yet. Powerful muscles flexed under his blue roan pelt, his mane flaring out with his motion and black banner trailing behind. His hooves tapped the marshy ground in a staccato rhythm, a soft neigh beckoning Metallic to follow. They would find their way out of the swamp together, and he hoped they would have many more adventures together.
(if u want to end the thread here i might start another one somewhere else, i'm runnin out of ideas for this one >.>)

Dream smiled, her desire for this roan becoming really strong. She knew now that she'd follow him where ever he would roam and later she would tell him that. What the female longed for was for him to be happy. She was sure that they could make an environment that would satisfy them both equally.
What had just happened? Had they both just made a silent vow to each other?
The mare found herself soon watching the roan eagerly. He wanted her to follow him and oh she would, to the ends of the earth if she had too. This wasn't some teenager crush, her heart felt that, she knew that.
Dream giggled and then ran after him, already getting a small taste of what Moon was talking about. To run was a great feeling and perhaps Moon would soon find out that to stay put for moments at a time was something desirable as well.
