Seven Vices v1, that which destroys you Back when the human race was still young, the horses had existed for thousands of years. They were a thriving race, at least one existed in every corner of the world, known and unknown. It was convenient, then, for the humans to began to capture these animals. To domesticate them and take them as pets. Some horses submitted easily, others fought until they could fight no more. Everywhere horses were being used to pull loads, to carry people and to do anything willed by it's human possessor. The will of the horses had been broken; they were nothing more than pets. They submitted to it. One group, though, refused. Seven horses made up this group, each horse named after a different of the seven deadly virtues. They had changed their names (no one knows what their original names were) and called themselves the Seven Vices. The spent their days fighting the humans, releasing horses. They were friends of the horses, never mind their name that might have implied otherwise. But over the years, the personalities of the Seven changed. They became more and more like each of the sins they named themselves after. Pride, Envy, Lust, Gluttony, Anger, Greed, Sloth. After awhile, they were no longer friends of the horses. They were simply enemies of the humans. For years they terrorized the humans and their domesticated horses. Right up until the time the humans simply had enough. The Seven Vices had thought themselves invincible, but they had been wrong. With all the strength the country could bring together, the humans fought back. They fought until all seven had been captured and held. Without hesitation they sent them off their land by boat with strict instructions to the captain to sail until he found a deserted island. At that point, he was, in their words, to dump them and return. The poor captain completed his first command without too much difficulty, but never had the chance to complete the last. He was killed by Anger as soon as they were released, he hadn't exactly been smart about the releasing, to be honest.
The Seven Vices now found themselves on a new land, completely void of any life equal to the rank of their own. It was the perfect place to start over. But this wasn't the end of their misadventures. No one knows how it happened, it truly isn't that important, but a curse was placed on the Seven. This curse would not affect the original Seven, but would be sent on to their children and their children's children. Each horse was left with a curse of their own, any one of the seven sins. This sin would frame who they were and would give them one related power, none of them good, although some found uses for it. The tradition of the Seven Vices continued, though, and they became the rulers of the island after the original were dead. The island was split into seven parts, each ruled by one of the new Seven and named after the sin. In turn, the land itself was split into parts, for other Unfortunates like themselves to claim and rule over.
After this was set up, life moved on as normal. The population of the island continued to grow, and many got used to the strange curse. It was what they did, or would do, with it that formed and would form the future of the island.
