A beautiful mare surveyed the lands. She approved of them. They were quite entirely dark and she did like them. She knew that her king was near, the ever unpredictable Joker.
From a distance the mare would appear to be quite beautiful and perhaps no more than a couple of years old. Closer you can see that she is slowly, but surely aging. Her cream face is turning white and the faintest amount of gray is creeping into the blue/black spots that decorate her pelt. She is becoming older with each passing year. She may seem old, but not as old as she really is.
The mare could hear the other mare near by. She could smell her but she didn't care. Honey Flower was indifferent to any other mares. They didn't rule her and few of them were very powerful.
She suspected that the other mare, she didn't know her name, was powerful. Perhaps even more powerful than she. But that would change. Honey Flower was smart, and wise in the ways of life. She also could drive stags to insanity. Not that she did often, but she might. Honey Flower was a valuable asset to any herd, she could still fight and she had a lot of wild spirit in her. She was not a mare that would roll over and let others tromp all over her.
So here she waited, listening to the wind play its ominous music, waiting for the stag to appear out of the dark gloom.

Joker dashes from amongst the crystallized trees, fresh snow thrown up from his heels as he bucks and runs and carries on. He performs a tight turn around on of the purple gems jutting up from his earth, nearly brushing his side against the hard, cold surface before straightening up and heading for Honey Flower. He snorts and tosses his head when he forces himself to slow, circling the mare and stopping at her head, trotting in place energetically as he breaths a long breath from his nostrils, a stream of vapor appearing and disappearing.
“Welcome to Darkened Frost,” he says between panting, “Honey Flower.” He grins and steps back, turning his head to survey the tracks he had laid in the earth, a dark chuckle tickling his throat. Amused? He trots ahead of his new mare, expecting her to know to follow. ~Joker

She wheels around on the ice, spotting him. She is happy to see him, happy that he came, which is odd. She doesn't expect to be happy. She is not a happy sort of mare. She is a cranky, almost gloomy mare. She is pleased to see him though. Something that she would never expect. She has learned that stags always bring pain, and forcebreeding.
"Hello, King Joker, yes these lands are beautiful, such a dark beauty. I am quite impressed. And the mare you have chosen, she is quite dark is she not. I have yet to meet her. May I inquire her name? I would like to meet my fellow mares and other herdmates," she nearly shouts. Her voice rings with confidence. She will be pleased to meet the more powerful mare, she seems like a worthy opponant.

"Yes, she is dark," he states simply. But was that something like uncertainty that flickered on his face, ill confidence in the queen he had chosen? He had picked her, yes, but not for the reasons that one should usually choose your queen. And now he regrets such a hasty decision, one made mainly by hormones inspired by the moment. Now it worries him. But he quickly shakes away the look that had crossed his face, refusing to appear weak before a new herd member. He grunts and shrugs his powerful shoulders.
"You will soon, Honey Flower. In due time this herd will hopefully be united. We'll need to be if we expect to be a force to be reckoned with." He finishes his words and then visibly winces as if kicked. No, he wasn't struck physically, but by one of the voices in his head. Predator... Strange emotions flicker over his expression and he quickly turns away so the mare might not see it. "Not now," he growls dangerously beneath his breath. ~Joker

T H E flickering moon light wasn't enough to illuminate the purple points of Revair's coat, but it reflected angrily in her eyes. It had been quite a few days, and the painted mare took this time to explore her newley goverened home. Although, a familiar scent brought distaste to her tounge. It was a mare. Joker was with her too, what a shame. With impeckable grace, Revair danced into the little gathering, her head set higher than it should be. A few strands of hair wavered about her face as she gracefully pulled to a stop besides Joker. Her long neck elegantly reached for his shoulder as she nipped him reasuringly.
The darkness encased either side, as she stepped towards the new mare. There was anger flickering in her eyes as Revair tried to make her grin pleasant and welcoming. Though it was a challenge and she hardly managed. It was an awkward grin, lopsided. Though her musical words were all the more appealing. "Hmm... how about you tell me if you think I'm dark." Revair flashed a menacing grin then looked to Joker with a satisfied grin. Why not play it up a little and scare the poor mare?

The mare glanced coolly at the new mare in the clearing. She was pretty, yes and so dark. Not that Honey Flower was surprised, the mare had been spoken highly of, well not spoken of but she could tell that she was respected by Joker.
"Good evening, my Queen," she murmurs. She has no wish to displace this mare who is obviously a good queen choice. She is old and getting older by the day. No stag would chose an old mare over a brilliant young mare just out of her filly days. No that would be improper and insulting to the other mare. She hoped that Joker would realize that his queen choice was good. She was pretty, she was dark, and she was strong. She would make a fine queen and any heirs borne to her would be strong and wonderful. A worthy mare indeed. She was obviously not happy to see Honey Flower though and Honey Flower wondered why a young mare like her would be threatened by an old, albeit fairly decent looking, mare. She was certainly not that pretty, not as pretty as the other mare.

He recieves the reasurring nip with a gaze and something like a half smile as he acknowledges her with silence. She is strong and beautiful, and he admires that, but he just wishes he could be more certain about her. He doesn't doubt or argue that her strength and prettiness make her a fine choice of a queen. The King only doubts himself, even though he knows he should not and puts on the mask of confidence. If anyone knew how unsure he felt inside at times...they would lose all respect for him and detest him for his weaknesses. All his hard work would go up in smoke and he'd lose everything he had gained.
That is not an option...
"Hello, Revair." He finally speaks, stretching his own muzzle out to bury it under her mane behind her ear and to nip lightly at her neck. Joker would never mar her beauty; he is incapable of doing so, held back by an unknown force. "This here is Honey Flower, my dear," he announces quietly against her nape without bothering to move, his lips moving against her flesh and hot breath warming her. "She has come to Darkened Frost to offer us her wisdom." The King moves and gives her a smirk before glancing back at the other. Why does he feel so intent on Revair today? ~Joker

R E V A I R watched the mare intently, her gaze scrutinizing each little expression, or lack of as the mare responded to her words. Which was nothing. One thing Revair managed to notice was how polite she was. Puzzled by this, Revair looked to Joker, a malicious grin was triggered as he gingerly played with her mane. She shooed him of in a gentle way, nipping at his mouth teasingly. Then, she took a step forward, her eyes casted downwards onto Honey. What a bright and happy name... "Just wisdom... Whered the dark attitude?"
Revair spoke as if Honey wasn't even there to listen. Her eyes were still fixed on the older mare's form, looking her over. Wisdom? Well, maybe she had more brains than Revair, but who needs brains when you can have beauty. Softening her eyes, Revair tilted her head and nodded in recognition. "Welcome to the herd, Honey, mind if I shorten your name dear? It's quite a mouthful." Revair was more or less going to call Honey Flower just Honey, weather she liked it or not. After, she backed back into Jokers comforting touch, her eyes still wary on the new mare, who appeared to be a bit light for Revair's likings.

So the mare didn't think she was light did she? Well Honey Flower could change that. She was wicked. She was cruel and now she wasn't so sure about this queen. She seemed almost overly wicked and rude. Honey Flower had come from a herd where being rude to another member, no matter your position, was a good kick on the rumb.
"My dear, being polite is not a sign of lightness, rather it is a sign of good breeding. Trust me, I can be as dark as you, perhaps even darker. When you reach my age you will understand that you don't always have to be dark to command respect," she mumurs to the other mare.
"As for calling my Honey, I do not care nor mind. Do as you please."

Joker doesn’t mind her shooing, simply grinning at her in a way that says he’ll have his way with that perfect pretty mane at a later time. Oh, he will. But right now he’s not sure if he wants to get involved with the two mares’ ‘conversation’, staying back out of it unless he is yanked in at a later point. The King is currently just content with observing and studying. Oh, his Queen can do just about whatever she wants, he doesn’t seem to have the heart to tell her ‘no’, but he is interested in keeping Honey Flower around.
“I can be polite,” he mutters, just saying it to be a jokester and stir up trouble, a smirk turning up one former of his mouth as his eyes glint in Revair’s direction, and then towards Honey. But he keeps control and doesn’t allow the chuckle to shake his shoulders as it so desperately wants to. Instead he shrugs them in a nonchalant manner as if he had never said it. He’ll let them draw their own conclusions; he went and forgot what else he was going to say, looking about instead to search for nothing in particular. ~Joker
(heehee...I don’t know if true politeness is in Joker’s nature. ^_^)

T H E air was still untill a choppy breeze raced through the land. Its fingers sweeping through Revair's mane. The strands waved about in the wind, lashing at her neck and eyes untill the breeze vanished just as quick as it had come. Before when she just met Honey, Revair was relaxed, but this "smart" mare, seemed to irk some energy. She sprang forwards, her eyes sharp and unwelcoming as Joker added his crude remark, she just glared at him, then turned to Honey. "Hmm, too bad those words never made it into my vocabulary." Her eyes narrowed into slits as she glared at Honey. It was hard for Revair to be polite, but wasn't saying "welcome to the herd" tainted with no sarcasm, nice enough?
Those words will never come from her mouth again. Perhaps she should have just shrugged her sholders and snobbed the old mare, who was only a few years older than Revair herself. Being of age doesn't make you less attractive, sure her gait was more flowy when she was three, but she still had class. "How old are you anyway?" Revair was curious in a sinister way.

The mare could see the anger in the mare's eyes. She smiled. As for the question she did not hesitate to answer. She was old and she was not ashamed. She didn't care if she insulted the mare. She would be dead in a few years anyway. Provided she wasn't killed in her sleep.
"I am fifteen, my Queen," she mutters. She did not miss Joker's "joke." She could tell that the two had a game going on but it did not concern her, therefore she didn't really care. She had always been the beauty of the bunch but this mare outclassed her, even when she had been young. She respected the Queen yes, but she did not trust her. She liked her, she had spirit and was entirely dark. She would have been good friends with the mare if she wasn't so...possessive almost. Even the old mare could see that she really didn't love the handsome stag. True, Honey Flower herself had never really loved. Oh well.

Joker wouldn’t say that the mare was at death’s door; unless she plans on going out in a blaze of glory any times soon. Maybe she could be considered getting to the point in her life where she’s nearing the ‘over the hill’ ages, but she’s still got life left in her. You can trust him, he’s seen some pretty old nags in his day (not that he’s calling Honey a nag). He catches the glare she sent to him and he grumbles and returns the glare, wrinkling his nose up at her in ‘dislike’. Who cares what she thinks…maybe he should just let the two duke it out, get it out of their systems.
What?! It’s not like he was ever in an official herd or had someone to teach him these things! He’s just going with the flow and learning this stuff as he goes. But he’d never admit it, never show it in anyway. Everyone had to think he’s a pro at this, that he knows what he is doing. The King grunts quietly and shakes his head. Mares… ~Joker

R E V A I R took a step back. Not because she felt threatened, but because if she was any closer to the mare, it would be the end of her. Revair stepped back, her neck stifined as her nose pointed to the air. A smal growl rumbled through her throat which was muffled by her dark laughter. Shaking her head in a sarcastic way, to rid the persuasions for Revair to attack. This mare would not get the better of her, she would hold her composure, relax.. no need to rip her throat out.
"Ha! I should be seeing you in a grave!" Revair retorted, spitting at the mares feet. This time she took a step forwards, her amber eyes casted downwards, glaring at the mare. "If I say, please shutup, is that beind polite?" Revair snorted and glanced sideways at Joker, refusing the need to sblack person. This little conversation was starting to bore her, maybe she will take her leave.

"As you wish my Queen," mumbles Honey Flower sarcastically. She doesn't really like to be bossed but even Honey Flower knew when she was outclassed. This mare would have her down and dead within five minutes. She was just to old to keep up and the mare obviously had some other power, she was so confident.
"So my queen, are you expecting an heir any time soon. Or are you waiting until you get to know each other better?" the mare asks. Not to be rude or anything, or was she being mean. The mare could already tell that Revair was not pregnant. She didn't have to ask. It was quite obvious that she wasn't pregnant yet.
"Ah my lord, do not look like that. You know as well as the rest that your little joke was not well taken, at least not by me. If you do that too much your face will stay that way," mumurs Honey Flower. She just wanted to live in a dark herd, but she had lived in one before and this was not entirely unexpected.
