The shadow of the mountain stretched out over the forest nestled at its base as the sun began to sink slowly. It was past sunhigh but not yet approaching dusk. In the forest flitted a white creature, its true shape slightly blurred as it bounded through the trees. Pawsteps were muffled by the fallen leaves of yesteryear still rotting away to nourish the trees. Bushes whispered as their branches were disturbed by the ivory bulk. Sunlight glanced off of ivory fur at odd times as sunlight fell through the canopy of oak and maple leaves crisscrossed with the odd pine. Coming to a ridge in the small wood that looked down on a slow-current creek, the creature came to a halt in a wash of late afternoon sunlight. Now that it stood still the "ghost" showed itself as a handsome, regal-looking white wolf. A brute by nature and obviously by build the male had stormy light grey-blue eyes, a blue crescent moon upon his brow and a smaller lightning mark on his muzzle. His flanks heaved with his pants, tongue lulling from his parted jaws.
Springing down the ridge the wolf made his way to the creek in three bounds of his long legs before bowing his head to lap at the water. He stood quite alone in the quiet forest, ears still perked for potential dangers. The tales of this place had not escaped Soul despite his newness to the area. This place was said to be one of the last remaining pockets of human traps. Though he traveled swiftly through the trees, Soul also moved with caution which had kept him so far, free of human traps.
Raising his head the lone male cast one last look around before springing forward. The splash as he hit the water seemed to shatter the summertime quiet, sending a few magpies flying off in a rattle of noisy wings. Soul paid the birds no heed and waded across the creek, letting the water cool his legs as he moved though he winced as a sharp rock stabbed at his paw pad rather uncomfortably. When he reached the opposite bank, Soul waded onto land and braced his legs, shaking his ivory fur free of any extra water.
Following his nose, Soul found a thicket of bracken that was protected and would hide most of his obvious white fur from anyone that might linger in such a dangerous place. Still weary for human traps, Soul sniffed around the hollow wearily before entering it and laying down in the shade. The hot sun mixed with his thick arctic fur made Soul sleepy and within moments his eyelids were beginning to droop, guard dropping and failing to notice he wasn't quite alone.

I had been wandering around for a while, when I came upon hollows, of sorts. My inner evilness told be to go back, to go back to her pack, but something edged her on, something stronger than words and gut instinct. Maybe she'd find food, maybe something to attack, it could be anything. So snooping along, I finally ended up in front of a hollow with strong wolf scents in it. I smiled wickedly. Bingo. I stepped forward, making sure my paws landed on a leaf that crumpled and broke easily, making that rhythmic snap. I sniffed loudly, my entrance was quite obnoxious. "Hello," I said darkly, smoothly. "My name is Vel." I tried to sound as intimidating as possible. I was interested; he was a male. And by the scent, single....

Soul's stormy blue-grey eyes flickered open, black nose testing the breeze. A fae was approaching, her pawsteps shuffling through the old leaf litter and her breathing soft in Soul's ears. The white male didn't move from his laying position but instead decided to remain where he was, his posture relaxed and almost uninterested in the fae's rather noisy approach. Soul had been walking for a long while, throughout the day and many days before so he found little reason to get up just because a fae was approaching. Besides, something about the scent lingering on her made him uneasy. Also, why would anyone come into the Entrapment Hollow with good intentions? His intentions were, as he was, neutral. He could do harm here or harm could be done to him but he didn't care enough to take the long way around. This fae however, she came here with purpose.
Decidedly keeping his head resting on his paws, Soul only raised his gaze to the fae but didn't move his head. "Whatever business you have in these parts have nothing to do with me" Soul barked, his deep voice neutral and uninterested. "I suggest you find someone else to harass."
Four years ago Soul wouldn't have given that sort of response to anyone, regardless of if he felt uneasy about them. Now however, he was a wanderer that drifted like a ghost caught between worlds. He didn't meet other wolves a lot and when he did, Soul kept his meetings short and to the point unless he decided the other was worth being around a bit longer. Soul didn't mind being with others, really he enjoyed it. The only problem was that Soul wasn't a wolf for words. Even in his younger years Soul had been all about acting first, regretting or talking later. Now he seemed to avoid both action and words though he'd use them if he had to.
Angling his head slightly the male watched Terminal Velocity, the blue crescent moon on his brow catching the light slightly. He wasn't shy about the marking, especially since this fae was obviously not normal either whether by personal design or birth.

"Feisty." I said, a smirk on my face. "That tone is almost as horrible as mine.I sat down, waiting for his rough reply, for him to tell me off or come out and attack. I was prepared for a battle, always was. He wouldn't be able to be beat, never. I wondered what his name was. And then he flashed that moon on his brow; it took me by surprise. such an interesting marking... [color-Red]"What's your name?"[/color] I said breathlessly, staring at the mark with sudden interest.

Soul's stormy eyes watched the red-tinged fem with neither mistrust nor particular interest. He wasn't going to entertain her. Sure, Soul didn't mind being around other wolves. It was ok, it was just something he didn't do a lot and hadn't done in a while. Still, there was something in the way she spoke that made him weary of her. Over the past few years Soul had become aware of the divide between wolf alligences. To this day however he had never laid eyes on a dark. This fae, Vel as she claimed to be, didn't look much different from any other wolf but still, Soul was cautious. Sometimes what you saw wasn't what you got as far as wolves went. Then again, maybe his judgment was harsh and he was simply turning into an anti-social hermit? It was possible. Since his brother's disappearance he hadn't spoken much and lost a lot of his headstrong stubbornness but some of it did still linger.
The ivory brute noticed her gaze resting intently on his moon-mark. Swerving his ears forward, Soul tensed slightly, eyes examining her gaze and posture. Why she had such intense interest in him was curious but unnerving as well. "My name is my own. I do not give it freely" he barked at last. "Especially to those that so rudely stare at me."
He angled his ivory head ever so slightly to hide the smaller lightning-like mark that was on the right side of his muzzle. If she was intently interested in his moon-mark he wasn't sure he wanted her seeing his second marking. Under normal circumstances Soul wasn't shy or weary about his markings but he did become weary when others stared quite openly. That plus his earlier unease of this femme made him cautious.
Sitting up slightly, Soul met Vel's gaze. "What is your interest in me fae? I am neither enemy nor friend for you or any of your kind."
Rising fully to his paws the big brute shouldered past Vel. He didn't consider this retreating or surrender even if some might think it is. He was simply considering it smarter to get into open ground rather then just a small thicket lest Vel didn't like his answers which she probably didn't.

She growled, he was playing hard to get. She followed him, her interest diminishing greatly. "Your a guarded one,"She said slyly, her eyes sliding from is face to his paws and back to his face. He was handsome, no doubt about that. "I would say that youAre the rude on." She said simply, gazing into his eyes. "Staring is fine, it means you have perked my interest." She smiled, showing her jagged teeth.

Soul let out a tired sigh and swung his head to look Terminal Velocity in the face. A frown curved his dark lips, his stormy gaze becoming rather impatient. She was an insistent one. Sadly she was horrid at pick up lines and Soul simply wasn't interested. "Sorry to inform you but your interest is the last thing I want or need." Oh if his younger self could see him now, Soul's younger self would laugh and then hit him for behind stupid. When he'd been young Soul would have chased just about any fae. He had once had his eyes on a fae from his old pack but she had died in the massacre. Now Soul had other worries, more important things to tend to then some hormonal femme that seemed antsy to be around any handsome wolf she saw. It made him sick and he disapproved greatly.
Of course Soul knew he was handsome, he favored his father's appearance. He was large and his fur was thick and soft, his eyes were an unusual shade of blue. The markings on his face highlighted his well carved visage and his voice worked wonders on faes. When he'd been young Soul had used it all to his advantage and he'd been good at it but he'd sobered up, grown up so to speak. It wasn't any fun chasing faes anymore without Howl barking in disapproval or ruining a moment. It just didn't peak his interest anymore, especially when the faes were this pushy.
"If its a companion your looking for fae, you won't find one here and your sort are rather undesirable in any case." Soul's words weren't as neutral as they had been. Now irritation pricked his words and his tone was borderline icy. She was starting to grate his nerves, like someone was shoving his fur the wrong way. She was insistant and irritating but sadly that wasn't his irritation. Howl had been like that but Soul had never minded it. Vel was simply in the way and obviously looking for something he wasn't going to give, judging by a pretty face and batting her eyes at him like she'd probably done for many other idiotic males.

I snarled. "What makes you think I won't kill you for saying that?"[ He was the annoying one, for being such a pompous porcupine head. She stared at him thoughtlessly; the only thought she had was kill. I wasn't a pretty face. Most found be terrifying. He was just a dull, old furball that probably wished to die. I can do that deed for him. I thought sourly.

Soul curled his lip and let out a deep snarl at the fae's words. What was the matter with her? He wasn't interested, made it obvious and offended her. So what? She was asking for it and now she was making death threats? Pushy, he could deal with to an extent. Death threats however, oh no. That was not going to happen. Raising himself to his full, and considerable height, Soul's gaze turned icy as he glared at the impurdanent femme standing before him. She looked obviously unhappy but Soul could care less at the moment.
"Try your paw fae, see how far you get" Soul snarled, his hackles rising in aggression. "You come and bother me, are nothing but rude and yet you expect what from me? Flattery? Ha! Perhaps I've been away from wolves too long but even I know a dark when I see one. I don't mix with your sort now get lost or make good on your threat. I can tell you my life won't be the one ending."
His darkened lips curled back to reveal his fangs, powerful muscles coiling under his thick white pelt. Soul could go from ghost to frightening fighter in a heartbeat though he didn't like to fight, not since he had had to bury his own parents. Still, if this fae intended on making good on death threats he wasn't going to lay down and die. A flare of his old pride flickered in his belly at the mere thought of dying at the paws of a femme nonetheless. That would simply be shameful, dark fae or not.

Vel stared at him briefly, thinking of what to say. Stupid old crab. Obviously he wasn't immune to company. He was a hermit[/i[, nothing more. Homeless. A hobo. She smiled a smug smiled. "Hey now." she taunted, flicking her tail. "Silly Hermit. You wouldn't be able to tear a few strands of fur off of me." she snickered, trying to get him angry. She would let him attack pitifully, then she would taunt him even more.
