A dark eagle soared above the white mountain. It's ice and bitter cold he had braved before. As a horse then, not in his current shape. He had been working so hard at it and hoped that is shape would not fail him. He could feel himself growing weaker and dropped down, his form changing slowly already. He prayed that his wings would still save him. He threw them out, only to find they were gone already. In place of the eagle once plummeting to the earth was a blue/black stag falling in fear.
He hit the ground hard, luckily he had landed in a soft snowbank, a rarity on Icy Mountain, where the magic granter Namid resided. He trudged the last few feet to the summit where he stopped. He had ventured here only once before, to recieve the gift of Eagle Shifting as a beginner. He was here now to complete his intermediate quest and recieve more power, and more knowlege. He had been sent before to retrieve to roses which burnt his flesh and made his lip curl up in disgust. Still he had carried him, though they hurt them to the Ice Queen.
"Namid, I am here to recieve another quest," thundered the stag to the heavens. He waited patiently before he began to pace. The mare would be there soon. She was probably there already, blending perfectly with the icy backdrop.
Character: Twilight's Darkness Questing for: Eagle-Shifiting Intermediate Why seek this?: To further his abilities as an eagle, so that he no longer has to walk.

The mare truly was there, watching the stag's impatience with a smile upon her velvety kissers. She recalls this one. He has visited her before, yes, she had given him a quest for the beginner level of Eagle-shifting, sent him to find a frozen rose in the caves of her mountain. He had done well, but this time his quest for more power, more experience, will be a more difficult task. Namid knows that she must challenge Twilight Darkness if she is to be sure he can manage the magic he will be gifted with.
"Hello again, Twilight Darkness. You look like you are doing well," she says from behind him, walking upon the snow and ice with just the barest of hoofprints upon them. She stands a little taller than him, as he is sinking into the drifts, and she grins down at him good-humoredly. "I suppose you have come for a new quest to better your understanding of the gift I gave to you on your last visit. Very well," she states. She passes him and turns to face him. "I send you to Echo Summit to retrieve two hairs from the dark lady Calypso, of the Highlands of Darkened Frost. And from the Stick 'em Up Desert three cactus pins."

"As you wish fair lady. I will do my best and will not disappoint you,"responds the stag. He whirls around and begins the trearous climb back down. He is almost happy for the wind that blows in his face and prevents him from stumbling and tumbling down the long mountain. Finally after an insanely long decline he touches the bottom and struggles to recall his eagle's shape. He begins to change, the morph disfigured and grotesque. Finally he forms into an eagle and goes toward the desert. He shudders as he thinks about the light and the prickles on a cactus, he does not fancy having one stuck in his nose.

Namid waits. She rears. She sniffs icy fronds of yarrow. she wondered if Twilight would be coming back soon, or if he got into a bushel of prickley cactuses. It would be quite amusing for him to come back as a porcupine.

The King of the neutral lands trudged back up the mountain, slightly out of breath. His feet dragging and in his maw were two delicate mane hairs from Calypso and one very prickly catus pin. He laid them by her feet, praying that they wouldn't get lost.
"Here, I brought you what you asked," he muttered. He was still ticked off at the mare Calypso, did all mares have to be so picky. He was not in the best mood and he hoped that Namid would grant him the power and be done with it.
He backed away from the delicate items to wait. He hoped that this wouldn't take long. He had three beautiful mares that he had to settle in soon and he didn't want to spend all day here waiting for Namid to make up her mind.
He sighed and focused on Mozart's pretty face to keep is irritation from showing on his face. He breathed in and out evenly, waiting patiently, ever so patiently...
