days of wrath.
Adralden and Zafel... what meddlesome colts they were... and still are.
I watched those young stallions grow together, and it pained me to see them go their separate ways. You see, Zafel came to be one of those power-hungry types, always wanting what he couldn't possibly have. His best friend and brother Adralden, on the other hand, was born with power, and he was far from inclined to share it. It was his right, after all.
So it was only natural that after his father's death, the gray stallion coveted his position and grew rather unkind towards his estranged friend. Tension bloomed between the two; Zafel wishing to hold on to their friendship, among other things, and Adralden merely wishing to increase the power of his harem. Soon enough, the day came where neither would surrender to the pressure, and the historic battle began. It was a struggle for both, but in the end Adralden emerged victorious, beating down his bay opponent, but not without a painful token - one not only upon his flesh, but also on his soul. He had vanquished his friend, his brother - but alas, he had done what needed to be done. Zafel was labeled as a traitor and was soon exiled from the lands.
And so his newest intentions were born.
Meanwhile, horses like us sit about in our perfect lives, unafraid and happy to go on and keep things exactly as they have been for years. What goes on in distant lands is not our problem, right? If we worry we become unhappy, and we must not let that happen. But, my children, I urge you to be unhappy for just a little while, if simply to consider.
These are dark times, and the longer we refuse to accept that, the slimmer our chance of victory becomes. Remember that.
dies irae.
